Impressions Teaching Staff:
Melissa Landry(Owner/Director)- Melissa has over 22 years of dance experience. She began her training with Cindy Williams in Springfield and during that time she has held numerous dance and modeling titles throughout Massachusetts. In 1997 she was named Springfield's Junior Miss and competed for the state title. She received an AA in Dance from Dean College where she studied under the direction of Joan Palladino, Jean Wenzel, Jill Silverman and Nailah Bellinger. She also has a BA in Psychology from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. Melissa's choreography has won her many special awards throughout the years including the Universal Talent Award and Professional/Amateur award at regional competitions. Her choreography was also featured in two performances at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World in 2003. She is a competition/pageant judge and consultant as well as on the staff of the Dance Factory in West Warren, Ma. Melissa is also a 7th year member of NADAA (National Association of Dance and Affiliated Arts, Inc) as well as their October workshops Stretch Teacher. Melissa spends time in NYC during the summer at the Broadway Dance Center taking classes from such greats as Tyce Diorio, Chris Judd, Debbie Wilson and Derek Mitchell to name a few. In her free time she is a nanny for the wonderful Helmus family in Longmeadow and the Customer Service Rep for Custom Pak in Springfield. This summer she will be traveling with 18 of the competition team dancers as they perform at Walt Disney World!
Katie Dooney- Katie is a graduate of Elms College and received her bachelors degree in Social Work. She has studied Irish dance since the age of four and reached Prize Winner Status by the age of eight. Katie studied at the McDermott Academy until 1997 then continued her Irish dance education at the Claddagh School of Irish Dance where she has been for nearly 14 years. She loves teaching professionally and has for 11 years now. Katie's Irish choreography will be featured this summer at Disney when our competition team performs her original choreography at Downtown Disney! Katie works for Peter Pan Bus Lines in Springfield.
Meghan Gibbs- Meghan had danced for 15 years and has training in ballet, tap, jazz, modern and lyrical. She has assisted Melissa for numerous years and this is her 2nd year of teaching at Impressions. She has attended classes at Broadway Dance Center in NYC, attended NADAA dance workshops and has achieved numerous accomplishments at dance competitions. She has been a high score and special award winner as well as being chosen as a National Dance Team pick. Meghan is a 2011 graduate of Agawam High School and currently works for Peter Pan Bus Lines.
Rachel Deslauriers- Rachel has been dancing since three years old. She's danced for 15 years at Dancers Image in Westfield, then 4 years on the Westfield State College dance team. Her favorite style of dance is tap. She is currently a preschool teacher, in Holyoke MA, working for Head Start. Rachel attends the University of Hartford where she is pursuing her masters in Education. She truly enjoys the aspect of teaching children. Rachel loves spending her free time with her family and friends. She is also a huge fan of Disney and loves going to Disney World! Rachel would like to thank her family, boyfriend, and friends for all their love and support over the years, as they have always been her biggest fans! To all the dancers, thanks for making her 2nd year teaching amazing and to remember always "dance like no one is watching!"
